CoHere
Becoming our fullest self, together.
To “cohere” is to work towards a daily practice of becoming whole. We can do this together, through mindfulness, play and a social justice-oriented therapy.
As someone in the queer community I understand first-hand the struggle of finding one’s voice, identity, and inner strength.
I offer mental health counseling and support for those facing feelings of uncertainty, overwhelm, disconnection, or shame during times of transition and change.
What I Do
In our childhoods it is not uncommon to develop protective patterns where our caregivers could not meet our needs. These patterns can backfire over time. Through evidenced-based practices informed by Internal Family Systems we can begin to better understand all parts of ourselves, and foster greater self-compassion and self-leadership.
I bring a critical lens towards the impact our systems have on our daily lives, and on our mental and emotional wellbeing. My practice is informed by critical theories, social constructionism, and attachment theory. It is also deeply relational and collaborative. Self-care is an integral piece of the social justice leadership work that is being asked of us now.
Our fantasies and desires can be a place of deep healing, but social norms and cultural taboos can leave us feeling alone, abnormal, or ashamed. My research has looked closely into the healing and transformative evidence that consensual kink/BDSM practices can have for individuals, and my practice is a non-judgemental place for folks to understand themselves in this way more deeply.
